Indigenous Revelations
"People go through every moment of their lives... without thinking about Native peoples or american colonialism for one second. And, frustratingly, our society and education system has deemed that perfectly fine.” This blog is dedicated to north 'american' Indigenous culture, struggle and identity. It serves as a tool to not only celebrate these cultures and people, but also to combat the continuous cycle of ignorance, racism and cultural genocide against Native peoples.
Intergeneratinal Effects of Historical Trauma Caused By Tyrannical Indian Boarding Schools
This film presents interviews with Indigenous peoples and their families as they tell of how the native peoples were placed in “boarding schools”, forced to relinquish their native ways, their language and become “white Europeans”. Those that resisted were subsequently beaten, abused physically and mentally and sometimes murdered.
This has created a viscous cycle dating back over one hundred years as the native people have been rubbed out by the church and the US government. Many of these “boarding” schools even sent out requests for money during the 1970’s to fund these so called schools.
